No matter what you call fun, it can be found in South Dakota. Both Mother Nature and your tourist dollars can and will bring the awe factor!!
Between yesterday and today; both were travel days, we had a blast. We visited Wall Drug in Wall, SD, The Badlands National Park, The Corn Palace in Mitchel South Dakota, The Porter Sculpture Park somewhere along I-90 and Walmart.
Wall Drug has been around since 1931 and was founded by Ted and Dorothy Hustead. It has gone thru many changes over the years from a simple little store to a mega tourist attraction still with a real drug store within it. So much to see, eat and read. The history that is packed into these “four walls” is incredible. Nothing short of Smithsonian quality in my opinion. Check out the link below to explore all of Wall Drug.

Next we were onto the Badlands National Park. Wow is about all I can say. The area is a work of art created over millions of years by the hand of Mother Nature. As you get out and walk the trails, explore the formations and read about the area you come to realize there are forces at work much larger than we can imagine. You feel as if you’re on another planet. I placed a link below for your pleasure.

Today (5/31) was spent driving from Wall, SD into Minnesota. Along the way I had to finally check off one of my 99 Day Trip Bucket Items. A visit to The Corn Palace in Mitchell South Dakota. Everyone always told me I would be disappointed but on the contrary, I was super impressed to see the Palace and learn about the history behind it; as well as, the local area history that it helped shape. The present Corn Palace has been around since 1921; but, a Corn Palace has been in Mitchell since 1892. A link is below for your reading pleasure.

Finally, before we blasted across the Minnesota border at 65mph (LOL) we stopped at The Porter Sculpture Park somewhere along I-90. A very eclectic assortment of metal art and poems basically out in a cow pasture. As a matter of fact we had to wait for cows to clear the gravel road before could get thru the gate on the property.

I could go on about everyone of theses places but you would have been sleeping long ago. That’s the reason for the website links. There is so much to know about all of these very cool places. If I had to give one piece of advice, it would to get out and explore this Country of ours. Just take short trips here and there and you will be a amazed at what you discover. Enjoy the pictures and videos below.
So excited to follow your blog, and we enjoyed meeting you at the Badlands!
